A scholar with a PhD in Halal Industry and a graduate of IIUM Gombak, Dr. Sugimoto made a life-changing decision: to dedicate his entire life to spreading Islam in the Land of the Rising Sun.
But he is not alone. Together with MyFundAction, he is raising and mentoring young Japanese Muslims to continue this noble mission of dawah ensuring that the light of Islam reaches every corner of Japan.

Why His Dawah Matters So Deeply
Japan is a nation admired for discipline, innovation, and resilience. Yet behind its modern success, many face silent struggles—work stress, isolation, and the heavy stigma of mental health issues. In their search for peace and meaning, many Japanese are drawn to Islam.
It is here that they find Dr. Sugimoto—a teacher who speaks to them in their own language, not only linguistically but also emotionally and spiritually. His gentle approach makes Islam accessible, relatable, and deeply meaningful.
And the numbers prove it,
A Waseda University study shows Japan is now home to more than 250,000 Muslims.
The number of mosques has grown from just 15 in 1999 to 113 today.
This growth shows one thing: there is a rising number of new Muslims in Japan who urgently need guidance, knowledge, and a community to belong to.
That’s why Dr. Sugimoto and MyFundAction are committed to training youth ambassadors of Islam equipping them with knowledge and experience to carry the dawah forward.
